The article on BTR (Build to Rent) community developers features both Christopher Todd and Havenly Communities. Build-to-Rent as a concept started in Tucson back in 2010 and is certainly a growing trend providing an answer to the housing shortage. As many are looking at options outside of apartments where there are no shared walls and no one living above or below you. The appeal is across many different demographics from empty nesters who are drawn to the freedom of not owning a house–and all the upkeep that entails; to millennials who find it hard to buy in the current market. “This product has come into the market because there is a need.” –Mark Stapp, director of real estate programs at ASU’s W.P.
